Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

The Domestic staff within the whole of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are amazing and the extremely high standard of cleanliness that the hospital maintains every day is a testament to this. Wherever you go, every nook and cranky is spotless. However, it is the Domestic Team on the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI) who see patients in sensitive situations every day.

When carrying out their duties, staff members are near to patients and can regularly be heard laughing and joking in good humour. Patients have a relationship with the domestic staff just as they do with nurses, doctors and therapists. Patients can be on the ward from anywhere between two days, two months, or up to 10 months for more complex situations. The domestic staff go above and beyond to help patients and relatives and all staff are extremely professional. They know the importance of communication with nurses and other medical staff.

The domestic team have the amazing skill of being extremely visible and available to help, at the same time being 'stealth like' and silently going about their duties in a caring, compassionate and professional manner. Complements from patients, relatives, family members and members of staff are never far away.

“We felt like film star’s when we were announced as winners and going up to receive the award with our fellow workers was a terrific feeling. The food and everything about the night was fantastic and was thoroughly enjoyed by all” - MCSI Domestic Team.
