Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust

Under the current NHS financial situation and with constant strains on all Trusts, the Recruitment Team at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust has pulled together to help departments and divisions undertake their Workforce Recruitment Plans. In 3 years they have developed dramatically, which has provided fantastic results. Time to hire in the trust has been reduced from 26 weeks to 12 weeks, meaning a reduction of agency use.

Although it may be thought that the Recruitment Team do not influence patient care, they do! The department push and drive customer service for staff and they ensure future staff entering the Trust have the correct qualifications and registrations.

The Recruitment Team have a good relationship with candidates, from interview stage, through to employment checks and welcoming new staff at induction, so they feel informed about the Trust. They are extremely professional and demonstrate this in their documentation and communication with candidates and with the Trust.

They have a ‘can do attitude’ and will accommodate varied and complicated requests happily. The team are very open to explaining the services they provide and with a new system in place, they have a ‘glass door’ approach for managers to observe internal operations with ease and transparency.

Everything the Recruitment Team have achieved could only happen by working collaboratively with candidates and recruitment managers and supporting other NHS trusts in their recruitment processes and procedures. The team often puts forward creative ideas and better ways of working, as well as input on how to develop thier department and services moving forwards.
